　　1.bridge n. 桥，桥梁 vt. 在…上建桥；沟通
　　cross the bridge when one comes to it 船刭桥头自然直
　　A：Do you really think that Prof.Smith will ask you to redo the whole project？

　　cry over spilt milk 做无益的后悔
　　例句：The exams are over.It's no use crying over spilt milk.
　　考试已经过去了，后悔也没用。
　　2.by no means 决不
　　by no means 一点也不，决不(not at all， never)
　　例句：1.I'm by no means pleased with his behavior.
　　我对他的行为一点都不满意。
　　2.He escaped narrowly this time， but his troubles were by no means over.
　　他这一次侥幸逃脱，但他的麻烦决没有结束。

　　cable TV 有线电视
　　例句：Did you hear there is some new kind of cable television system that will allow you to get five hundred channels？
　　有没有听说一个新的有线电视系统能让你收到500个频道啊？
　　4.extend v. 伸长，扩展
　　extend from...to... 从…延伸…(with a scope from...to...)
　　例句：This plate extends from the west coast of North America to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
　　这个板块从北美西海岸一直延伸到大西洋中部。
　　5.join vi./vt 参加，参与；结合，连接
　　join in 参与，参加(take part in an activity)
　　例句：Many people join in community theatres because they want to perform or to be creative.

　　6.means n.方法，手段
　　by no means 一点也不，决不(not at all， never)
　　1.I'm by no means pleased with his behavior.
　　我对他的行为一点都不满意。

　　他这一次侥幸逃脱，但他的麻烦决没有结束。
　　by all means 当然，这个习语也可以表达同意。
　　A：Shall I call you to let you know about the next meeting？
　　A：要我打电话告诉你下次会议什么时候开吗？
　　B：BY all means.
　　B：当然。
